By around the 2070s the average life expectancy in the Developed world will have sky rocketed form around 90-100 in the 2020s to nearly 200 thanks to age slowing technology largely developed from reserch into Brooke Greenberg and other similar cases.
In the Developing world life expectancy has reached an average of 80-90 years of age.
Genetic modification is an everyday reality, but has only seen limited development compared to some predictions. Partly because of the difficulties involved and partly due to a lack of demand because of video games. It is primarily used to treat (in the case of adults) or prevent (in the case of unborn children) disabilities. It is also used by many to improve and maximise personal fitness and heath.
Genetic modification is highly regulated by the UN for health and security reasons. The most dramatic changes are only aloud before birth (although by law it must be possible to reverse the change is the child so desirers following maturity.

The United Federation of Europe (European Federation or EF); The EU has evolved into a far more unified Parliamentary-Presidential Federation (or PAR-PRE-F as is obtain shortened to), with a unified military, police force and foreign policy (amongst many other things). It is one of the three supper powers, alongside Sinosiberia and Canada. Europe is commonly labeled the most powerful nation due to primarily to the political influence it has over the two other powers and it's strong relations with most of the worlds powers. Europe has strong relations with both Sinosiberia and Canada but due to the cold war has to tread a fine line between the two. It cooperates with Canada in the Mars teraforming project but triads primarily with Sinosiberia. It refuses to sell weapons to either state and refuses to share intelligence with one side about the other unless it is deemed the best way to avoid war. Modern states making up the European Federation include all current member states, Greenland, the former Yugoslavc nations, Turkey, the Caucasus nations and Russia (west of the Urals).

The Sino-Siberian Scoialist Democratic Republic (Sinosiberia); Following the Russian civil war which saw Siberia gain independent, while west Russia joined the EU, Siberia built strong relations with China. As the world warmed and China lost much of it's territory to rising sea levels and encroaching desserts much of the population was forced to migrate to the increasingly inhabitable Siberia the Chinese government made a deal with Siberia. The two Countries united under a single government, with Siberia wielding disproportional power (due to the fact that China was in a very poor negotiating position and Siberia's power was set to grow thanks the massive amount of immigration). The new government was formed as a Presidential, Democratic Unity State. Unlike China in the early 21st century the county is considered one of the most free on earth by international annalists and enjoys extremely strong relations with it's European nabours. However it is trapped in a cold war with Canada.

Canada; Canada's rise to supper power status is largely because of climate caused migration form the rest of North America. Much like Sinosiberia most of the population is 1st or 2nd generation climate refuges. Thanks to climate change it most of the country is now inhabitable. Canada's territory includes Alaska, some of the north United States and a number of over seas territory's. Quebec has been independent since the mid 2040s but there is a growing movement for it to rejoin Canada. Canada's political system is nearly identical to Europe.

The Car has been almost completely replaced with personal aircraft. "PACs" (Personal Airborne Car/Carrier) in the developed world (Utilising the latest in flight technology to allow VTOL aircraft with minimal moving parts) and Helicopters in the Developing world. This change is both due to the large number of mountainous settlements and the increased freedom/reduced infrastructure they allow.

"Perfect Reality" video games have come to dominate society. They allow people to live any life they want, within a virtual world indistinguishable from reality thanks to neural interfaces. These games allow people to live any life the want within a reality of their creation, to experience things they never would in reality and escape from reality in times of stress. Many people live almost their entire life in these game, and some come to view their virtual life as there real one. Although most people still prefer the real world, referencing a strange feeling known as the "real touch" that makes the games fell odd. These games have lead to a significant fall in the rate of technological advancement as many people simply don't see the point. However groups of people have sprung up, mainly religious ones, that have branded games evil., and lead a political and sometimes violent campaign against them. Games have lead to a significant fall in crime rates. They are only just starting to become popular in the Developing world.

Mars has been colonised, with Gia, it's largest and first city. Massive particle colliders are used to create lead that is being feed into the planets core to increase it's mass. The goal is to rise the Gravitational field strength to at-least 7.5 newtons per kilogram. This process uses 3 times as much energy as all other activity on Mars combined

Venus is also being teraformed, with much of the atmosphere being scent to Mars.

Humanity has launched it's first manned mission to Proxima Centauri. On arrival the ship will break into two parts and become a permanent space station in orbit around the star and a return vessel for part of the crew and any samples they find. It will be only the second missition to utilises FTL comunication, thanks the "Conjoined particles" as they are commonly known, previously used for experiments with teleportation, allowing instantaneous communication through a from not dissimilar to mors code.
